I really thought about Helena Bonham Carter and Pam Grier for the Picture Slot, but... Peter Cushing. Besides his very, very long C.V., tomorrow's birthday list will make it clear why May 26th and 27th are always going to be the same guys. I did choose a different picture than last year, one from his stint as Doctor Who in the movies, work that is considered non-canon by true Who fans.(I'll admit it. I don't completely understand the folks who are into the 20th versions of The Doctor.)

Many happy returns to all the living on the list and to the dead, thanks for all the memories.

Movies Released
X-Men: The Last Stand released 2006

Predictor: OMNI Future Almanac, published in 1982

Prediction: Cloning, a science-fiction fantasy of the 1970s, could become a reality as early as the 1990s.

Reality: The cloned sheep Dolly was born in 1996. We might think of ourselves as advanced far beyond sheep, but the technology to clone humans wouldn't be much more complicated. The thing is, no biotechnology creeps people out more than cloning. Cloning is illegal in the United States, Canada, the European Union and several other countries around the world.

And beyond that, exactly what pressing problem does it solve? We have plenty of people and the standard method of reproduction is still remarkably effective and popular. As much as I love the show Orphan Black, I don't think this is something we have to worry about in the near future.

Looking one day ahead... INTO THE FUTURE!

When you think Peter Cushing, you also think... tomorrow's birthday boy.

Join us then... IN THE FUTURE!
