Never to be Forgotten:
Rik Mayall 1958-2014

The death of Rik Mayall, British comic actor and writer best known for the British comedy series The Young Ones and Blackadder, has died today at the age of 56, the cause not yet released. For work in genre, his best known appearances are in Errors in the Human Body, Drop Dead Fred, Shock Treatment, An American Werewolf in London and Whoops Apocalypse, where he plays the guitar and sings the re-election theme song of President Johnny Cyclops (Barry Morse).

While I wasn't keen on The Young Ones, I did enjoy Blackadder and I have found the tributes from his cast mates very touching. best wishes to the family and friends of Rik Mayall, from a fan. He is never to be forgotten.

  1. It's uncanny how much I agree with you on most everything pertaining to this blog.
Rik Mayall was very much a talent, and I too did not think that highly of The Young Ones, yet Black Adder was/is one of the most fulfilling comedies of all time. The cast was very special on that show, superb chemistry. I will always give props to the best British comedies, they are the standard that all others are to be measured by. Keep up the great work Prof., a very nice blog by any measure!

    1. Thanks for stopping by, Michael. It's nice that you agree with me so often, and I hope you'll keep reading even if my usually impeccable taste goes of the tracks every once in a while. ;^)
