Notes on the birthday list.

1. The Picture Slot. Previous Picture Slotters were Colin Farrell in 2013 and Madge Blake in 2014. While we have an A-list movie star in Clint Eastwood, I think the most iconic role on the list who hasn't been utilized is Lee Thompson from the first Back to the Future, which is a particularly creepy plot line if you give it any thought.

2. Canadian spotted! Catherine Bruhier was born in Belize but raised in Canada and her credits include two genre shows from last century.

3. MST3K. While I did not consider Clint Eastwood for the Picture Slot, he is the reason we have MST3K as a label today, for his small role in Revenge of the Creature.

4. Wait... he's dead? Denholm Elliot died 23 years ago, but I feel like I should have seen him in something made more recently. It may just be that he is a certain type of British Oh That Guy actor, very good, not particularly pretty, always a good choice when a role needs some dignity. In any case, I did not remember that he was gone and I miss him.

Many happy returns to all the living on the list and to the dead, thanks for all the memories.

Predictor: Robert A. Heinlein in his 1957 book The Door Into Summer

Prediction: Finding people from thirty years ago was no job for an amateur. But I didn’t know their Social Security numbers. My Country ‘Tis of Thee had never succumbed to police-state nonsense, so there was no bureau certain to have a dossier on every citizen, nor was I in a position to tap such a file even if there had been.

Reality: Sorry, Bob, the good old U.S.A. has gone police state in a big, big way in 2015, and even in 2000, your sleeper dude from 1970 would have found out about something called the Internet and had a fair shot in finding someone from info gleaned from thirty years in the past.

Looking one day ahead... INTO THE FUTURE!

A new month and a new splash illustration, getting rid of the creepy giant rat spider. Yeesh!

Join us then... IN THE FUTURE!
