Beloved author Sir Terry Pratchett has died at the age of 66 of complications from Alzheimer's Disease. His diagnosis was first announced late in 2007 and he continued to make public appearances, shedding light on the disease that is so often hidden from public view.
His best known books are the Discworld series, set on a flat earth balanced on the backs of four elephants who stand on the back of an even more massive turtle. The first book in the series, The Colour of Magic, was published in 1983. The stories spoof the conventions of fantasy seen in Tolkien and Lovecraft and many more. My favorite work of his is his collaboration with Neil Gaiman, the 1990 novel Good Omens, a story of Armageddon gone very askew.
Best wishes to the friends and family of Sir Terry Pratchett, from a fan. Both for his writing and for being the public face of Alzheimer's, he is never to be forgotten.
I loved Good Omens as well. Very sad to hear this...
