Jan Hooks, the comic actress best known for her work on Saturday Night Live and Designing Women, died today at the age of 57. The spokesperson gave no cause.
The picture I use of her here is from a Saturday Night filmed skit from the time on the show I think of as the Phil Hartman Era. That's unfair to other cast members, especially Hooks who was so good in so many roles on the show. She is remembered on a sci-fi blog for roles in 3rd Rock from the Sun, Coneheads, Batman Returns, Superman 50th Anniversary and Pee Wee’s Big Adventure.
I'm too stunned to say anything clever here, but Mark Evanier tells the best showbiz stories about the past half century, so I'll let him be clever.
Best wishes to the family and friends of Jan Hooks, from a fan. She is never to be forgotten.
