Jack Davis b. 1925 (artist, MAD magazine, Tales From the Crypt)
Jonathan Frid b. 1924 died 13 April 2012 (Dark Shadows)
Ray Walston b. 1914 died 1 January 2001 (My Favorite Martian, Star Trek: The Next Generation, The Stand, Galaxy of Terror)
Jerry Sohl b. 1913 died 4 November 2002 (writer, Star Trek, Twilight Zone)
Frank Reicher b. 1875 died 19 January 1965 (King Kong, Son of Kong, Superman and the Mole-Men)

Long list of writers and actors today. Lucy Liu gets the Picture Slot, but I will admit she hasn't done that much stuff in genre. Jonathan Frid as Barnabas Collins or Ray Walston as Uncle Martin are more iconic, but Lucy Liu is prettier, so there she is.

A couple of names worth explaining. Cathy Lee Crosby was the star of the first version of Wonder Woman on TV, but it didn't work. Wonder Woman should be a blue eyed brunette, and if she's va-va-voom, so much the better. Frank Reicher played Captain Englehorn in both the Kong movies.

Many happy returns to all the living on the list, and to those who are no longer with us, thanks for all the memories.

Prediction: There will be between 12 and 20 hurricanes in the Atlantic in the 2013 hurricane season, which ended 30 November

Predictors: Michael E. Mann, Michael Kozar and Sonya Miller

Reality: There were 13, but none very strong and very few making landfall. Even so, the number is in the confidence interval, so points to Mann, Kozar and Miller

Looking one day ahead... INTO THE FUTURE!

A prediction ripped from this week's headlines about plans from NASA.

  1. All hail Jimmy Sangster for writing some of my favorite sci-fi B movies and to Ray Walston for good TV memories, Jack Davis and Frank Cho for great comics, old and recent.

  2. Nice choice for the Piccy, but I must respect Johnathan Frid. And who knew he was alive up till last year?

Some kind of note of squish-face Arch Hall, though, skewered righteously in TWO MST3K episodes....

And I must also say that lack of success notwithstanding, I have fond memories of the Cathy Lee Wonder Woman. Of course, I was entering puberty at the time...

    1. I was surprised at how short Frid's C.V. was. 5 total credits, three of them related to Dark Shadows. Guess he did more on stage.
